  • Shale-a rock of fissile or laminated structure formed by the consolidation of clay or argillaceous material.
  • Moratorium- an authorized period of delay or waiting 
  • EPA- Environmental Protection Agency  
  • Hydraulic Fracturing- a process in which fractures in rocks below the earth's surface are opened and 

         widened by injecting chemicals and liquids at high pressure: used especially to extract natural gas or oil. 

  • Hydrofracking- slang word for Hydraulic Fracturing
