  • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - was signed on February 17, 2009, and it included $1.5 billion for a Homelessness Prevention Fund. 

  • Homeless - persons who lack permanent housing. 

  • Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program - is the funding for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and was distributed based on the formula used for the emergency Shelter Grants Program.   

  • McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act - a federal law that ensures immediate enrollment and educational stability for homeless children and youth. It provides federal funding to states for the purpose of supporting district programs that serve homeless students.
