The purpose of the LEARN Works program is to partner with families, schools, and volunteers to support the academic progress of our students and to advance family engagement.     • Community Health Center At Lake Norman Community Health Clinic, our mission has been to  create a medical home for uninsured families and individuals in Mecklenburg and southern Iredell counties. We strive to empower our patients by educating them on ways to achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their loved ones. We’ve successfully completed our Capital campaign,  commemorating 20 years of service to the community.
    • Ada Jenkins Health Clinic  When operational, the Ada Jenkins Medical Clinic provides high-quality medical services at no cost to uninsured patients in Northern Mecklenburg county. Primary care and specialty care is available to all ages for both acute and chronic conditions. The Clinic offers an array of services including nurse assessments, lab work, medication management, preventative care, patient education, and referrals for diagnostic testing or specialty care that we cannot provide onsite. Our Community Health Nurses serve as health educators, patient advocates, and referral agents for our patients. Volunteers make these services possible. Dozens of local primary care physicians, medical specialists, mid-level practitioners, nurses, interpreters and administrators engage as medical clinic volunteers. Davidson College student volunteers play a critical role in clinic operations.

    • Suicide Prevention In the wake of the devastating suicides and suicide attempts of 2012, Mayor John Woods gathered town leaders, while concerned parents had meetings of their own—Why here?  Why now?  And, most importantly, what can we do?  From those first meetings of concerned and worried community members, Davidson LifeLine launched.  Starting as a town initiative, led by citizens, Davidson LifeLine gained its non-profit 501(c)(3) status in August, 2014.

    • Our Towns Habitat  A subsidiary branch of Habitat for Humanity operating in North Mecklenburg County. Our Towns promotes affordable housing in the North Mecklenburg and Iredell counties through two main programs—new homeownership and critical repairs. Our new homeownership program provides low-income families, who might not otherwise be able to buy a home, a path to homeownership with an affordable mortgage. Families must meet income and residency requirements, commit to homeowner and financial education classes, and serve 400 “sweat equity” hours, which are earned through working on the construction of their own home, volunteering on other build sites, in our ReStores, in the office, etc.

NOH provides for the children’s basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing, as well as schooling and health care, and administers to their emotional needs with love and compassion, allowing them to grow up in a nurturing environment. Our mission is not just to rescue children from abject poverty, but to enable the children to develop and realize their potentials.
    • Students with Special Needs Abroad  It is our mission to serve children with special needs and their families in Romania & the Lake Norman area of North Carolina. Our goal is to enrich the lives of these children and their families by helping provide opportunity and a sense of community in which to blossom. We work to help improve the lives of the abandoned, orphaned, disabled and poverty stricken children at House of Angels in Romania, through ongoing financial support and Special Operations, in hopes of helping transform their despair into hope and progress. We are also here to offer support to Lake Norman families caring for children with special needs.
